If someone tells me, “Yeah, I lost 20 pounds,” my reaction is always holy cannoli, that is truly awesome. It’s an arbitrary number but for some reason, to me, it is significant. I know I haven’t shared much in the way of numbers in these posts and there are many reasons for that. Firstly, if anyone else is trying to lose weight, it shouldn’t really be about the week to week numbers. For me, it would be more helpful to read about how someone was feeling and what was working for them. Second, there’s a part of my brain that says, “What if they don’t think I’m losing enough?” Like I said, there are a couple reasons.
So you’re probably wondering where this post is headed. Since I share everything else, I figured that I should share a small tidbit of news just so you know where I’m at 13 weeks in. I’m happy to report today that I have successfully lost 20 pounds! Honestly, I can’t believe it and still don’t see it. Yet, the scale doesn’t lie. When I’m in the middle of a workout and we take out the 20 lb dumbbell, I can say that I’ve lost that much. Bizarre. I consider this moment a small victory, but I can’t get hung up on it. There is way more work to be done and it’s only going to get more difficult from here on out. It’s taken 13 weeks which at times has seemed like an eternity, but in the same respect it has flown by. I’m proud of my weight loss but there will always be a part of me that is embarrassed I got to the point that I had that much to lose (and more) in the first place. Like I have said before, I’m going to try to not get hung up on the number. It’s a necessary way to track my progress since this is part of the program and the TBT. Ultimately, I’ll be judging by how my clothes for and how my body feels.
Next week I am on vacation. It’s more like a staycation, but my usual routine will be thrown to the wayside and I’m going to have to figure out how to make it work with a little less structure. I’ll make sure to let you know how it all works out. We also have another holiday in the mix this week which is always a challenge. It’s sure to be a great week and I hope you all enjoy the beautiful weather and long weekend that’s in front of you!!
