April 2014 Birchbox- Rainy Days Review

April is always a fun month, don’t you think? For me, it’s always a relief when April gets here after a usually terrible March. It signals the beginning of Spring in New England. The birds are out, the sun is shining and my sandals are inching their way out of the closet. Birchbox took the other end of the spectrum on April with their Rainy days theme. As the old adage goes, “April showers bring May showers.” Oh wait, that’s just how my saying goes.

Every box this month included a numbered card in it from the new BB 52 Bright Ideas for a Rainy Day. This was a cute addition…my card was #18 which was “learn to make a great cup of coffee.” Good thing I have my husband for that. He’s a beast with the French Press. So let’s get down to it and see what the rest of the box contained.

Fekkai Technician Color Care Shampoo
Smells good. Interested to try it. There’s barely any color left from when I colored my hair, it’s basically back to normal so I may end up sending this down the road to my mom who will definitely appreciate it!

nyakio Kenyan Coffee Face Polish, Body Scrub & Hydrating Face Oil with Kola Nut
I have yet to try this trio yet but I can’t wait. I have the body scrub set up in the shower and plan to use the face polish and oil tonight. I’m intrigued by the addition of coffee to these products. It reminds me of the caffeine eye cream which I sampled from my 100%Pure order. I liked that so I’m thinking I will like this as well. Side note: what’s awesome about this is that BB recognizes three different products here even though they are put together on the info card in my box so I can get 30 points on reviews instead of just 10. Score!

Sumita Color Intense Pencil in Suman (black)
I haven’t used a pencil liner in awhile since my sister turned me over to Sephora’s liquid liner. I’ll admit, I really really like this pencil. The color is black and it goes on extremely smooth. I’ll definitely be putting this into the regimen on days I use liner.

theBalm cosmetics How ‘Bout Them Apples? Cheek & Lip Cream
I have been seeing pictures of this product for months now and it’s freaking adorable. I was excited to get it in my box, but apprehensive because I didn’t know how it would look on. The color they sampled this month is Pie. I thought maybe it would be too bright but as a cheek stain it works great. I wouldn’t use it on my lips but I’ll definitely use it as a blush.

KIND Snacks Healthy Grains Bar- Maple Pumpkin Seeds with Sea Salt
Ahhhh…food. If you’ve read any of my other posts, my diet is pretty strict and even thought KIND bars are healthy, they don’t fit the bill. This bar looks fantastic and I’m sure my husband will enjoy the free snack!

Well that’s it for this month! Overall, I would say that in the 4 months I have been subscribing to Birchbox, I haven’t been disappointed. I’ve been able to try a lot of new brands that I would never pick out by myself. Good work Birchbox! If you want to try BB for yourself you can use my referral link here. Can’t wait to see what May brings!!
