So this is my first foray into blogging and Birchbox so it’s a very exciting time! I figured I would chronicle my Birchbox experience here as well as some other quirky happenings and see if anyone finds it amusing.
So here we go.
Let me just say, presentation is key and Birchbox does a great job. Simple, yet intriguing. Now onto the more exciting stuff….the contents!
First up…a set of amazing inspirational cards to kick off 2014. It’s Go Time according to our friends at BB. These cards are all really upbeat and definitely give me some motivation to start the new year off right!
Next we have Ruby Wing Color Changing Nail Polish in Ride Em Cowgirl. I tested this out and this color is basically just glitter which is a little much for my mundane lifestyle so that’s why I chose to use it as an accent nail. The color changing aspect is a cool concept, but I’d probably prefer a solid color.
One of the cooler things in this month’s box is 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mascara in Black Tea. This brand seems really cool and the mascara smells like tea! I actually really enjoy this and may be looking at buying a full size tube in the future.
So these BB creams are all the rage and then all of a sudden we have CC creams?? (I’ve also head rumors of an EE cream…no lie. But no love for the DD cream I guess) I received a minuscule sample of ORIGINS Smart Plants CC SPF 20 Skin Complexion Corrector. I will say this…it smells pretty great considering it’s a primer. It definitely doesn’t have that nasty foundation smell. It goes on really smooth but I would really need a bigger sample to use it enough to see if it really does all it claims to.
Last for the beauty items is Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect. I was pretty excited to get this since I blowdry my hair every day and straighten it as well. This claims to conditions and also protect from the harsh nature of blowdrying and straightening. Well…it made my hair feel silly soft but the smell…well it’s just not for me. Perhaps my Babci would like it because it reminded me of an elderly female perfume. Not exactly the aroma I want hanging out around my face. But I still like the concept!
Finally the Lifestyle item in my BB was Reviver Dry Deodorant Swipes. These are reusable deodorant pads that you rub on your coat or clothes when you don’t have time to wash but you’ve been somewhere that smells horrendous…i.e. that fantastic breakfast place or Coney Island or a smoky, dingy bar. Have yet to try it out but I think this is an excuse to go grab some good grub. (That was some nice alliteration if I do say so myself. )
